The FSC-Pure designation means that certified products have been harvested in a FSC-certified forest, are manufactured with 100 percent FSC-certified material and are distributed and sold through an FSC Chain of Custody (COC)-certified distribution channel.

Mike Pendergast and Chad Tydings, Earth Day week photos!

From our upstate NY office, Mike Pendergast and Chad Tydings send photos of the RD Weis Companies Earth Week recycling and reclamation project. Mike writes:

Photos are from our first run in Rochester of Earth Day collections! We were all exhausted but also elated at the quantity. Chad and I will be making our second run to Syracuse, Ithaca and Binghamton on Tuesday and expect just as much if not more!

I am also looking to keep these at the A&D firms for a trial run to develop deeper relationships... I am even picking up the Manufacturer Return Bags to send the samples back to the mills.

U.S. military's green projects to save $1.6 billion over time

Brian Winter in USA Today reports on the U.S. military's green strategies, with energy savings that usually recover their investment in 90 days.

"The Army's mission is not to be green. Our mission is to defend the nation. In that context, we've found it's in our interest to develop sustainable projects," Geiss says.

This is wonderful news -- greater energy efficiency is key to keeping the U.S. healthier, safer, and more successful.

• The second week of April, we’ll collect the boxes, and send samples and books back to their manufacturers or back to mills to be recycled and reused. And -- it’s free!
